VIDEO: Expressive Animal Portraits

Hello Moonshine,

For this video, I painted an expressive portrait of my dog and talk about the process as well as tips for giving personality to your animal pieces  and blending realism with your own personal style.

Tools

Surfaces: Treckel Pet Portrait panel with one coat of Daniel Smith Titanium White watercolor ground and a topcoat of QoR watercolor ground.  

Paint: My "Shadow Shade" which I use as black and grey made of  Daniel Smith Prussian Blue, , Daniel Smith Carbazole Violet, Daniel Smith Burgundy Yellow Ochre.  I also used Thalo Blue by Grumbacher, Opera Pink by Daniel Smith, Phthalo Green by Daniel Smith and some Pearl Ex  pigments in Aztec Gold.

Brushes:  Various synthetic brushes including Black Swan, Royal & Langnickel 13mm flatbrush, 0/12 Princeton Velvetouch spotter, and 20/0 Princeton Velvetouch Spotter
