Be Still - original framed painting

This listing is for the original painting Be Still

Chase the snow, unbind the rune

Sink below the hanging moon

When stars are left to hum and glisten

Be still, my darling, my child, listen.

Do you struggle to sit with yourself in stillness?

Being still can be one of the most intense pieces of mental work, more difficult even than complex problem-solving, at least for me. But it has also been one of the most beneficial things I’ve learned to appreciate over the last year or so. Although I struggle daily with an immensely chaotic mind, finding moments to be quiet with myself has opened me up to long-buried truths I didn’t know I needed to face. Physical stillness and quieting the mind take a lot of energy and a lot of courage. I think it’s imperative that we recognize we cannot learn these traits overnight, and even more important, perhaps, is to embrace the many struggles and “failures” we’ll have in this practice. I’m still such a novice at stillness, but as the Neon Stag seen in this painting often delivers us messages from deep within that we’ve otherwise refused to hear, I want to listen deeply, to chase out the static and tune into myself. Will you be still beside me?
