I heard the lies told in mushrooms, felt the house break away at its seams while the light broke and showed me what I had long buried beneath the fungi of lost truths.
The piece itself speaks about a home in the process of breaking and dissipating into something new, much like the coyote. The mushrooms in my work sometimes represent decay and in this case, they are a mark of false words spoken out of self denial. This piece warns of the dangers of neglecting our inner needs and most essential self. Whether it be by denying who we really are, or putting up acts and defenses to hide something we do not want others to see. It is not a sad piece, but rather one of power. Witnessing our own mistakes is powerful, as it allows us to move forward. Sometimes the most visceral reminders help us to reconnect with our inner truths.
