We’ll Dance Beyond the Cosmos’ Wane - framed original painting
This listing is for the original painting We’ll Dance Beyond the Cosmos’ Wane
I closed my eyes your third was there
A blinding, haunting glimmering stare
Your throat, an offering soft and warm
As I felt you flow over me in our starlight reborn
The white bull is a creature often represented in my work with a bleeding throat and a peaceful gaze. This spirit of giving is an element of my muse I often use as a reminder that energy is not infinite, and that we must give back as much as we take.
Many of us expect to operate like machines outputting at inhuman energy levels, and when we fail to do so, we feel defeated, incomplete and "less than".
For many years in my art career I struggled with this mindset and still have to fight it. The idea that I should work nonstop without rest and somehow be able to produce at high speeds while managing all of life’s other needs flawlessly. As you can imagine, the resulting burnout was an intense wakeup call, and I don’t know how it took as long to hit as it did. I found my white bull during the tail end of that burnout with the encouragement of loved ones finally getting me to realise my own care was a worthy cause. The bull came to me, letting me know he wasn’t gone he was simply used up. I had selfishly been drawing blood from him for years until our bond was nothing but a knife hacking empty flesh. And yet, he was still willing to come back once I understood the nature of our relationship. Muses never truly die, and burnout need not be permanent. But just as we worked hard to put ourselves into a depleted state, we must also work in different ways to dig ourselves out. I hope this piece reminds you to be intentional in your rest, for you also have a powerful internal force working within that needs your care.
