Where do your thoughts go when the static takes hold?

When you leave will they follow do they crumble and mold?

Turn down the noise, feel the quiet in the room

Listen to my voice, tune into the moon

Do you feel as if your focus is a scattered broadcast on a thousand channels that can never receive a clear signal?

As someone with a lifelong struggle between focus and chaos that I was long unaware of, I’ve been thinking of ways in which this world tries to force us into strict, almost machine-like perfection while also pulling our minds in every direction at once and I think there’s a real cruelty in that.

Focus is a deeply nuanced topic that’s taken me years and a lot of personal discipline and self forgiveness to work on, and I feel it will remain a lifetime of work. Behind all this work is a lot of intention setting. I’ve found that when I simply “go through the motions” of working on myself, very little gets resolved whereas when I do so with clear intention, it’s night and day in the difference it makes. One of the intentions I regularly set when I sit down to work is to ask my muse to “be my focus” this doesn’t remove my personal responsibility but it makes me feel like part of a team that truly cares for what I’m doing.

I’d like to invite you to remember that your brain is a brilliantly layered place, your million thoughts are incredible and can be honed into truly amazing things. Be patient with yourself, and feel free to call on your muse (or mine if you haven’t yet met yours) to work beside you as you learn to make peace with your own beautiful chaos.
