This listing is for the original painting Like a Fog That Devours

It comes like a dream, with a face it won’t show, like mist on a lake hiding secrets below

Distorting the familiar, unsettling, and strange, burying what once was familiar in unfamiliar graves.

This piece was inspired by a dream of being attacked by wolves as well as the many distorted dreams of familiar places that I have. As a person who not only has vivid dreams but excessive nightmares, I’m always horrified and fascinated by the way once familiar spaces in my waking world become distorted, shadowy things where wild beasts, demons, and killers wait to twist my reality. Losing recognition of the familiar often happens not only in places of dreaming but in our conscious world as well. Childhood streets with new coats of paint, a friend you once knew and no longer recognize. Because I take a lot of inspiration from nostalgia, these distortions can prove to be quite unsettling but I take pleasure in the eerie glimpses of former realities as if somehow slipping into a fantasy place that I only barely recognize.
