This listing is for the original painting Taking Leave

You slip away softly, a lingering hum

But I’ll wait on the Otherside for what you’ll become

The sibling of this piece. Both of these pieces feature one of the twin fawns who share a face in my work. I once dreamed of finding these creatures in a cabin my great grandmother built. In the dream they were ill and I tried to save them but the cabin grew darker and darker, as if filling with a thick black mold. In the end, it overcame the fawns and my sorrow finally let up as I watched their bodies begin to turn black from the head down. I realised that while they were leaving this world, they’d still be with me, reborn as the undead Noirs Animaux, the many and recurring black animals within my dreams.
