This listing is for the original painting The Roar of Illusion

A desolate nostalgia wherein stoplights blinked rainbows
Isolated places, wires humming in halos
A roar in the snow, the light of an eye
Did you confront the illusion? Are you longing to try?

This piece is based on a particular variant of recurring dream I’ve had for years featuring predators that hunt me in strangely familiar, if not distorted versions of places I’ve known. Many of these dreams have featured big, sometimes even colossal cats stalking me from behind entire mountains in the pitch black of night, hurling themselves at me in dead shopping malls, or purring in the dark, dusty basements of factories. I’ve developed such a fondness for these sometimes terrifying, sometimes empowering dreams and this particular piece is my attempt at capturing the disorienting and surreal feelings that the dreaming experience brings to so many of us. May your nights be long and strange, fellow dreamer.
